Butterfly Shoot

hair and makeup portrait shoot

Last week I collaborated with amazing new talent Sarah Raymond on 2 projects. First was a concept portraiture shoot with model Mariann Ami incorporating these beautiful butterflies, I just adored the rich terracotta and honey tones that contrasted with the vibrant turquoise and teal shades in the wings.

The makeup and hair was to have a naturalistic and rustic feel and as the butterflies were being incorporated into the finished portrait I felt that a subtle, neutral palette that picked up on some of the reddish tones would balance the completed image.

For the makeup, I enhanced the eye shape with soft contouring using MAC eyeshadows in omega, malt, wedge and charcoal brown. Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner was smudged along the lashes and topped off with lashings of black mascara. For the cheeks I used MAC blush in Mocha and for the lips I mixed red / brown / orange tones from a palette to create a warm shade.
