Beautiful, defining and enhancing Mother of the bride makeup.
I recently shot this wee video to demonstrate a timeless makeup look perfect for Mother of the bride, anyone attending a special occasion or simply looking to update their makeup look. I am so pleased my Mum stepped in to model this look and for agreeing to let me loose on her with my makeup brushes!
The thing with makeup as you get older is, it is easy to get stuck in a rut – staying loyal to the same products and routine way beyond the experimental teenage years. Few of us have the time or inclination to play anymore and that is exactly what you need to do with makeup – Play! I know it can be a daunting task navigating your way through the cosmetic halls and squillions of products available – let alone trying out new colours, combinations, textures and formulas – where on earth does one start?
For my Mums makeup look I opted for beautiful navy and charcoal shades for defining around the eyes. Exploring other shades in green, navy, grey and brown are a flattering and contemporary alternative to black. I lightly defined and shaped her eyebrows with a matt eye shadow which is very important for framing the face. Mum has retained her natural, youthful glow from a lifetime of moisturising – so I always recommend moisturising and priming the skin prior to makeup application to achieve a radiant finish. A little highlight on the cupids bow and pretty pink lipstick and blush complete the look.
